Looking Forward to This Spring...

I know spring's been here for a month now, but it's sure taken a while to feel like it. Now that the trees are leafing out and the birds are singing more, I'm happily feeling that spring has come more earnestly at last. *throws petals all over the place*

Any thing particularly exciting you're looking forward to in the months of spring? I'm excited for....

...working in the garden. I'm so happy to see a the little green babies coming up. This year I'm trying lots of zinnias. Pictures to come if they're a success. 😊 What's your favourite flower?

... The Stealthmaster's Shadow, by Hope Ann

It’s ten confounded years since the war ended.

Ten years since the Prince won the war and pardoned the rebels.

And left.

The Prince left, but lasting peace never had a chance to begin.

As a Stealthmaster, Verus is determined to complete the task the Prince left, whatever the cost. Traitors, needlessly vague governors, and threatening rumors are all part of a standard mission. Verus will bring peace to what is left of the world, one city and village at a time. According to the governor’s daughter, the war was never about a physical peace in the first place, but what does she or any of the other Followers know? They weren’t there during the war.

They didn’t see the horrors Tauscher spread over the land or the scars that will never fade.

Commandeering the task of a former soldier, Verus presents himself to the governor of Nerva. Eventually he’ll need to undermine the man, but even Stealthmasters need money, and a mission to discover the owner of a misshapen slipper shouldn’t be difficult.

Until the ambassador from Zahavia appears.

Suddenly face to face with nightmares from the past, Verus struggles to help those plunged into danger, from the governor’s newest prisoner to a serving lad to an infuriating woman he’s taken to calling princess. Fleeing will only make the enemy stronger. But staying…

Staying could doom them all.

*don't mind my screaming* 'Cause how could I not be excited about the next installment in the Legends of Light series? This is going to be epic! I'm off the walls for this one! Not sure if I can wait until June 1st. 😆 Though of course it is up for pre-order now...

..."Midnight Sun" by the Gothard Sisters 🎻

From what I've seen/listened to of the Gothard Sister's new album, this one is destined to be my favourite of theirs. It's just... so beautiful. Thankfully I only have to wait until May 4th for this one. I'm already listening to the clips of the songs on repeat.

...reading more poems.

I always have loved reading poetry, but this year it's beauty has become deeper and more special to me. I hope to read a whole book of poetry if possible. 🕮

Well, that's happening for me this spring. How about you? What activities and/or new releases are you looking forward for?

PS. Wait! Don't go yet! You need some writer humor for the day. You'll only understand this if you've been there. It's so brilliant I had to share. It had me laughing to the point of tears because of how relatable and hilarious it is. 😉

A Time to Change • ONWARD

Notice anything new? 😁
Perhaps a new name and a gorgeous new design? Feast your eyes on it for a while, then come back here, for I have some 'splaining to do. *elevator music....doodeedoodeedoodeedoodee.......*
You back now? Good. Ain't it bee-yoooou-tiful? It was done by my fantabulous sister Les and I simply love it!

image from the Internet

And the name? Well, you see, I liked "On Solid Ground" and all. But I've felt for a while now the I wanted to change and move forward, or onward, dare I say. (Sorry, couldn't resist the pun.) I wanted to have a purpose to this blog and a name that fit it. I thought about it for a long time, and finally came to something. That is, I want to encourage others to have joy on the journey. For life is the great adventure and we'll have our ups and downs, so I want to do my part to take joy in every moment and help my fellow sojourners to do the same. Thus the name "Onward". Let's go onward together.

As a note, I'll probably just be here off and on like I have been in the past, but I'll be here all the same. Thanks for taking the time to read!

Signing off,
S. F.

Sweater Weather Tag

Photos by my sister. :)
Hullo, good friends!

Kara did the "Sweater Weather" tag on her blog, and it looked fun so I thought I'd go along and do it as well. :) Join in and answer the questions on your blog or in a comment!

1. Favourite candle scent: Hmmm. . .I'm not sure if a have a specific favourite.

2. Coffee, tea, or hot chocolate? Herbal tea, thank you!

3. What's the best fall memory you have? Playing in the leaves with my sibling, and having lovely Thanksgivings.

4. Best fragrance for fall: Oh, you know that smell when you step out the door and all the smells become combined, so as the best way to describe it is simply "Autumn time!"? Mmm-hmm, that one. And also, Thanksgiving meal being cooked. ☺

5. Most worn sweater: I do have sweaters, but more frequently wear a long-sleeved shirt instead.

6. Football games or jumping in leaf piles? Definitely jumping in leaf piles. Wee! ;)

7. Skinny jeans or leggings? Leggings under a skirt.

8. Combat boots or Uggs? I haven't had either, and therefore have no preference beside to say both look nice and comfy.

9. Is pumpkin spice worth the hype? . . .Maybe. ;)

10. Favourite fall TV show: None.

11. What do you want to be for Halloween? Well, it already happened and I prefer to call it "Autumn Costume Festival". . .and so I was a medieval princess for Autumn Costume Festival.

12. Hats or scarves? Both are good. :)

13. What's your #1 favourite thing about fall?
Beautiful leaves, harvest time, service, and snuggling under the covers after a chilly day. ♥

Hope your November has been brill so far! :)

With love,

When Summer Comes

'Ello!
To day is the 5th of June. And summer is 15 days away. :} Lovely to think about, eh?

My dear friends Kara and SW shared their summer "bucket list" (or whatever title suits your fancy), and I thought that I might as well go along and share mine.

1. Sleep under the stars
2. Go camping more than 3X
3. Learn the guitar better, and bottom hand on the piano
4. Write a song
5. Read 10 or more books
6. Keep gratitude, prayer, quote, and drawing journals
7. Memorise Scripture verses
8. Take more pictures
9. Do something I've never done before
10. Read Little Women
11. Learn German
12. Organise
13. Go swimming!
14. Do something I have never done before

Those are some of them. I also hope to give this Blog-iddy Blog a new design, and go through all the 'drafted' posts that I never finished. :)
I'll post again near the end of summer and share what I was able to accomplish.
Do you have any plans for summer?

If it Hasn't Been a Year Already!

October 1st 2013:
'I have a blog of my very own called "On Solid Ground". . ."I'm going on an adventure!"' ~ My journal.
Yes, dear peoples, it has been one year that I have been "officially" S. F. (I have been commenting as "S. F." since July 1st 2013, but didn't have my own personal Blogger propfile until October 1st. ☺)
Indeed this blogging adventure has been quite a fun one.

37 published posts/14 "company members" (followers)/3358 pageviews/235 comments

Pictures 1, 2, 3, 4 are mine. The last is from the Gothard Sisters.

Thank you so much, all of you my friends. You're comments have made my day and you're all the greatest! I can't really express how happy you make me. :)

14 company member! (!!!) You all are amazing.

And now, who wants to have some fun? You do. Of course you do. Come on, let's go!

Answer-----> The poll over on the side.

Find-----> I have hidden 10 of the "We stand. . .On Solid Ground" pictures in the various posts that I have posted. Go find them. Then tell what posts they're on. You have until the 5th (Leave your answers in a comment for me to not publish.) "Hurray!" for you if you do. Ehehehe. . .
This one doesn't count. :)
Tell-----> How did you find this funny little blog o' mine? What's you're favourite post that I did? What is the tenth thing I describe myself as on my "You Can Call Me S. F." page? Is this fun or am I wasting my time?

Meanwhile

Things are being sorted out and...here I am posting again. :)

I just did a guest post over on Kara's blog which you can read if you are able to read this. Because if you weren't able to read this then you wouldn't be able to read and you therefore wouldn't be able to read the guest post I did on Kara's blog.

Enough said. Besides this quote by me:

If I could travel...

Photo from Pinterest
...I would take the road to the land where dreams come true.
where the roads go ever on and on.
where we all can be what we want to be.
where we don't have to be grown up to do big things.
where there is love for everyone.
where we're all brave in our way.
     where we can be ourselves.
where the people from books are our friends.
        where everyone is happy.
Take me to that land.

Starting at the beginning, of course!

"When Anne reached the school that first morning, she was confronted by prim rows
of "shining morning faces" and bright, inquisitive eyes. She hung up her hat and
faced her pupils, hoping that she did not look as frightened and foolish as she felt
and that they would not perceive how she was trembling.

"She had sat up until nearly twelve the preceding night composing a speech she
meant to make to her pupils upon opening the school. She had revised and impoved
it painstakingly, and then she had learned it by heart. It was a very good speech and
had some very fine ideas in it. The only trouble was that she could not remember a
word of it. . . "  ~ Anne of Avonlea

Exactly. I'm Anne, my blog friends are the pupils and this post is the speech! I had a perfect starting post in mind...but I don't remember it.:) So I hope this is good enough.

Who am I? I'm S. F. But you can give me a nick-name, if you want.

What do I like? TURTLES!!!!!!!, my family, writing, reading, discovering new things, nature, hobbits (and other Tolkien-things!), and etc. etc. etc.!

I look forward to new adventures in Blog land.

Love ~ S. F.
