The Scibbler Award

Once, in a time long gone by that no one but the ancients can remember. . . S. F. got awarded the "Scribbler Award" by the amazing Saphira. And for a reason not even the ancients can remember, she didn't post it. So some adventurous person went and dug it out of the dusty drafts. . .

Presenting
😊 El Premio del Scribbler 😊

Rules~
1. Link to the person who nominated you. See above.
2. Link to your favorite writing blog, so we can check it out, and/or share your favorite writing tip.  See below.
3. Pass the award along to a maximum of 5 people. I seem to always pass tags along to the same people, so I'm not quite sure who to tag this time. If you're a "scribbler", consider yourself tagged!

Favourite writing blog: Hope Ann's "Writing in the Light" has lots of brilliant things for writers. Kara and Naomi's "Writing to Inspire" also has great writing tips. And if it counts, I love "Kingdom Pen".

Favourite writing tip: "Don't be afraid of rewriting. It means you not only have something worth saying, but saying well." We all need to hear this so much, don't we? :)

🕮 A Bookish Tag 🕮

Welcome to the Bookish Tag. It's very booky. ;) Kara over at Saved by Grace tagged me, and here you have it!

Photo from the Internet

RULES:
You must be honest
You must answer all the questions
You must tag at least 4 people

1. Which Book Has Been On Your Shelf The Longest?
Probably Meet Kit from when I was four, or the Nurse Nancy Golden Book I got about the same time.

2. What is your current read, your last read, and the book you'll read next?
Currently I am reading Eight Cousins by Louisa May Alcott. I am loving it so much, especially the dear characters. I think the last thing I read was a re-read of The Last Battle by C. S. Lewis. And next will be Freckles by Gene Stratton-Porter.

3. What book did everyone like but you hated?
No book comes to mind.

4. What book do you keep telling yourself you'll read but you probably won't?
I have so many I keep telling myself I'll read and I hope to read them all. . .one day. . .and who knows if I will or not? Not me!

5. What books are you saving for retirement?
As in, books that are so long I won't read them now, or books that are special so I want to keep them? ??? I'm not sure.

6. Last page: Read it first or wait until the end?
Uh. . .I sometimes do a flip over the pages I haven't read yet, but I never read the last page first!! Though admittedly I once read a book that was a tad boring and had a predictable plotline, so when I was half way through I skipped to the last chapter and read it before giving it back to the library. 😉

7. Acknowledgments: waste of paper and ink, or interesting aside?
I like reading acknowledgements. It's fun to see a bit of what the author did to make their book a finished product.

8. Which book character would you switch places with?
This question stumped me. Really! I usually would have an answer. . .stick me somewhere in Lewis's, Tolkien's, Alcott's or Montgomery's books and I hope I'll survive and be happy. 😀

9. Do you have a book that reminds of you something specific in your life? (Place, time, person)
The Annotated Hobbit we got when my sisters and I were "Hobbit" crazy.

10. Name an interesting book that you acquired in an interesting way.
After I read the first few Anne books, we didn't have the rest. So my pitiful cries for the next one was answered by my wonderful mother ordering the rest along with several other LMM books. ❤

11. Have you ever given a book away for a special reason to a special person?
Methinks I probably have for Christmas or birthdays.

12. Which book has been with you most places?
Well. . .Pollyanna was with me on a long trip, but then so was Emily Climbs by L. M. Montgomery. And whatever book I'm reading goes all around the house with me.

13. Any required reading in High School that wasn't so bad two years later?
Honestly I can't think of any required High School reading. . .

14. Used or brand new?
I like both, though the way brand new books won't stay open on their own is a bit irritating, but it's fun to be the first to start breaking them in.

15. Have you ever read a Dan Brown book?
Nope.

16. Have you ever seen a movie you liked more then the book?
Does saying that I liked what happens concerning the Arkenstone in The Hobbit movie better that what happened in the book count? 😊

17. Have you ever read a book that made you hungry (cook books included)?
Farmer Boy. Only I'm not sure if it made me hungry; more likely towards the opposite effect because of all the food that was talked about. ðŸ˜‰ The Golden Picnic in Anne of Avonlea made me want to have a picnic, so I'll say that.

18. Who is the person whose book advice you'll always take?
My sisters.

19. Is there a book out of your comfort zone (e.g outside your usual reading genre) that you ended up loving?
Well now, can't say I've read any thing out of my comfort zone, but if I did I apparently didn't end up loving it!

And now, I pass the tag to SW, Chloe, Lily, and Hope.

3. What's the best fall memory you have? Playing in the leaves with my sibling, and having lovely Thanksgivings.

5. Most worn sweater: I do have sweaters, but more frequently wear a long-sleeved shirt instead.

6. Football games or jumping in leaf piles? Definitely jumping in leaf piles. Wee! ;)

11. What do you want to be for Halloween? Well, it already happened and I prefer to call it "Autumn Costume Festival". . .and so I was a medieval princess for Autumn Costume Festival.

The Authorly Bucket List Tag

Thank you, Kara, for tagging me for the Authorly Bucket List tag! To do this tag you are to, "List 3 to 7 things to work at in writing, and 3 to 7 things you'd like to try."

Things to work at...

1. Just WRITING! That is definitely something to work at. ;)

2. Coming up with how characters look. I have the basic idea for some of them, but other than that. . . ?

3. Editing. Something else to definitely work at.

Things I want to try...

1. Putting songs and poems into my stories. I like writing songs and poems, so why not?

2. Writing Non-fiction. Something I really want to try!

3. Having a character with an accent. As in, having someone from Australia or Norway.

4. Writing first person. I've tried it once (or maybe more) but I'd like to try it again.

I tag Elizabeth L. and S. W.

Now, everyone, go write!

The Blogger Recognition Award

Thank you, SW, Bethany and Elizabeth L. for awarding me
the Blogger Recognition Award. It was very kind of the three of you. :) I am honoured.

The rules for the award are. . .
•Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to. Do some digging if you must! Find those blog. You cannot nominate yourself or the person who has nominated you.
•Write a post to show off your award! Give a brief story of how your blog got started, and give a piece or two of advice to new bloggers. Thank whoever nominated you, and provide a link to their blog. List who you've nominated in the post.
•Make sure to attach the award itself! (You can do this by right clicking, saving, and uploading the image attached)
•Comment on each blog and let them know you've nominated them. Provide a link to the award post you created.
•Provide a link to the original post on Edge Of Night. That way, anyone can find the original guidelines and post if needed, and so we can keep it from becoming confusing!

The Story of How My Blog Started
On that blessed day of July 1st 2013, I found Carissa's blog and left a comment calling myself "S. F.". Through her blog I found other brilliant blogs and I began wanting a blog of my own. After sometime, I asked for one, and on October 1st 2013 (I know, I'm being so exact with the dates) my sister Les V. helped me set up "On Solid Ground", and I've been blogging ever since!

Some Advice for Others
When it seems hardest to keep blogging, keep blogging! Just like this quote says, Never Give Up! Take a blog brake if you must, but don't completely give up.

I Nominate
Les V.
Abby
Sarah
Lily Marie
Saphira
Hmm. . .I can't think of any more. Does 15 minus 5 count?

Again, thank you for the award! And all of you who have been awarded, have lots of thrilling fun.
Love, S. F.

ps.--unrelated to the award, but has anyone else ever been reading a book, and than they dream they're reading the book and something happens, so when they wake up they have to try and remember what really happened and what was only part of the dream? Only curious. . .

~ The Sunshine Award ~

The Awards are coming around.
They're contagious.
They spread like wild fire.
It's a plague, I tell you.

Yet another award from Kara over at Saved by Grace! And this time, no rules. I know I've already gotten the Sunshine Award, but this is drastically different: the picture is'nt the same. That makes all. the. difference. in. the. world.

Kara asked two sets of questions, one for Tolkien fans, and one for not. I'll answer the Tolkien ones. :)

Tolkien fan questions. . .

The Hobbit or LOTR? I like both, but I think I'm going to say The Hobbit. I liked how it was simpler then the LOTR, when Middle-earth was mostly at peace.
Favorite movie in the LOTR movies? The Return of the King.

If you were Peter Jackson how would you make the last Hobbit movie end? "And {they all}lived happily ever after, to the end of their days." <- While "Happily ever after" is not my favourite book/movie line, I would have it end like that.

If you could be any character from any of Tolkien's Middle Earth books, who would you be? . . . Bilbo. (How'd you guess?)

How did you first hear about the LOTR movies (or books)? My parents. When I was around two or one. :)

Did you go see any of the Hobbit or LOTR movies at the theater? The first two Hobbits.
Favourite Hobbit character? You would never guess, it's Bilbo.

What is one of the reasons you love Tolkien's Middle Earth? The hobbits and Hobbiton I love how it can be compared to almost any ones life, and the brilliant characters.

5 questions that I ask. . .

1.What books have you been sticking your nose in lately?
2.Ever traveled out of the country you live in?
3.Are you more apt to giggle or guffaw?
4.Summer's almost here! What makes summer special to you?
5.How would you describe this? :
Photo via Pinterest
To accept or not accept, that is the question.

Lily

I I understand awards are getting out of control and they're everywhere by now. (☺) You are entitled to your own free will: you will spread sunshine even without accepting this award.
